Perhaps the most genuine of Yemen Mocha coffees, this has a remarkable chocolatey taste for which the Ismaili is world-renowned. This coffee is still grown as it was over five hundred years ago, at a height of 1,900 – 2,000 metres, on terraces clinging to the sides of semiarid mountains below ancient stone villages that rise like geometric extensions of the mountains themselves, in some of the harshest and remote areas of Yemen.
All Yemeni coffees have a wild, untamed flavour that may seem a bit rustic at first if you are used to sweet, balanced Latin American coffees. This, however, is a coffee with bright and complex acidity, with a flavour alive with wine.
This is a full bodied and fragrant coffees, one of the world’s finest.
